The New Redesigned SAT-What you need to know
1. The New Redesigned SAT will affect students who are currently in or below 10th grade. The test will be launched in Spring 2015
2. The test will revert back to a grading scale out of 1600. There will also be an essay based on textual analysis.
3. The New SAT will be more closely aligned with school curricula. With that said, students will still benefit from tutoring that closely follows the format and content of the test. The verbal section will combine critical reading, vocabulary, and grammar skills (like sentence structure and usage). The math section will feature more comparisons and data analysis.
4. Colleges have not yet announced any changes to superscore policies. We do not expect colleges to remove superscoring options with the onset of the redesigned test.
5. While vocabulary will be scaled back in terms of both point level and difficulty, some reading questions will still test word usage and knowledge of workaday and academic vocab.
6. Overall, we expect that the new Redesigned SAT will move away from the SAT signature of reasoning/analysis/inference and towards a more surface level test (like the ACT).
