Summer Reading for High School Students

Okay, so you have required summer reading, but here is one more assignment that will boost your reading skills this summer.
Read a few short stories!
Here is one of my favorites: “A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings”
In this magical realism story, Gabriel Garcia Marquez communicates the subtleties of life in Latin America through a fanciful tale.
It is not an easy read, and will challenge you to comprehend, analyze, and infer.
Also, notice some SAT vocab words in the story: magnanimous, proliferate, ingenuous, prudence, lament, haughty, and hermetic.

In addition to memorizing word lists, reading more is a great way to boost your SAT vocab skills. Reading a few short stories this summer is a great start.
