Did you know that the ACT has a science section that tests your ability to interpret scientific data and make observations about the natural world? Photosynthesis:
– Light + water + carbon dioxide –> oxygen and glucose
– Occurs in chloroplasts – green pigment is called chlorophyll (only in plants!)
– Uses solar energy and converts this to glucose
– Results in the production of glucose and sugar, but glucose and sugar are not the same as ATP and cannot be used for all cell functions.
– ATP is used to pump molecules from low to high concentration (active transport)
