SAT/ACT Math Problem Setup

Many SAT and ACT math problems use this setup

Whole=n*Small

Where n represents how many small fit in the whole or how many smalls should be counted to get to the whole

Examples of Small-Whole Principle:

The area of a large field is 800 yards. How man 2 inch b 3 inch rectangles will fit in the large field.

800=6n

So n=800/6=400/3

A telephone switch goes off every 3800 seconds. How many times will the switch go off in 40 days?

40 days*(24 hours/1day)*(60 min/hour)*(60 sec/min)=3,456,000

So 3,456,000=3800n so n=909.47. here, round down to 909
